September 2nd--22nd The students will participate in three, four day workshops facilitated by the teachers.
The Changing Face of Vermont's Geography (Pre-Ice Age through Today) Do You Know Where Vermont's Mountains and Valleys Are? (Learning the Physical Geography of Vermont) N'dakinna and the Abenaki People in Early Times (Pre-Ice Age up to Eastern Woodlands)
Septemeber 23rd--October 22nd The students will learn about the Abenaki Nation's Eastern Woodland culture through 1840. They will research a topic of their choice focused on Abenaki technology. They will make an Abenaki tool or household good at home.
** This is a great short term volunteer time helping children with research and editing skills.
October 31st Students present their Abenaki projects to Nanatasis and Dwight. Nanatasis is the Grandmother and an Elder of the Abenaki Turtle Clan. Her husband Dwight is Lakota. We will also have a traditional Abenaki feast at lunch that day.
