Totally cool site where you can read the stories of different people as they tell about their adventures out West.  A good way to get ideas for how to create the voice for the character you make up for your own project journal.

Very cool site.  Explore the world of the American Indians and the19th century pioneers who helped shape the history of the American West.  Take a trip through their virtual museum.   Use this site to help you see artifacts of the West.
